Married on the 9th instant by REV. B. C. CHAPMAN, MR. JAMES R. BLUNT to MISS MELVINA M. LEWIS, daughter of CORBON LEWIS of this county (volume 169, page 74). Married in the Circuit Court Office on the 13th instant by THOMAS H. EANES, Esq., MR. JAMES BROMLEY to MISS CANDIS HICKMAN, both of Jackson County. (bet she was a widow aged 27 in North Carolina in 1850 with 2 HICKMAN children with her and JOHN BROMLEY 26) Departed this life at her residence in this county on the 9th instant after a short but painful illness, MRS. ANN THOMAS in her 68th year. Native of "Lowden" County, Virginia, but has been a citizen of this county for the last 30 years. Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Died in Memphis on the 6th Instant MR. ELI M. DRIVER, well known to many of our citizens, in his 54th year. October 22, 1851 Died on the 12th instant at the residence of MRS. E. F. COLES in this place, her daughter, MARY FEARN COLES in her 21st year.... Died September 15 at her residence in Hardeman County, Tennessee in her 50th year, MRS. ELIZABETH H. GRAVETTE, formerly of this county. Died in Limestone County on the 8th instant, ALEXANDER P. EASTHAM (44 in Virginia), a respectable and useful citizen. Died on the same day, JESSE CRAFT, aged about 65 years. Died in Shelby County, Tennessee on the 8th instant. ASBURY CRENSHAW, formerly of the House of FEARN, CRENSHAW and Company in his 70th year. November 5, 1851 Married Thursday October 23 by REV. JOHN M. ROBERTSON of Huntsville, MR. GEORGE W. KARSNER (23 in Alabama) of Florence (Lauderdale County) to MISS ELIZA J. KELLY of Madison County.... From Florence Gazette (volume 124, page 35; marriage record says married P. B. ROBINSON) Died at his residence in Madison County, Alabama on the 14th of October, BROTHER ADAM DALE in his 84th year. He was bom in Worcester County. Maryland July 14, 1768; married POLLY HALE February 24, 1790, left Maryland in the spring of 1797 and settled in Davidson County, Tennessee, where Nashville is now situated; removed to Smith County, Tennessee October, 1801 and united with the Presbyterian Church known as Craigheads; from Smith County he moved to Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee in 1829 and realizing he had never been baptized, he joined a church known as Miller's Church; from Maury County, Tennessee, he moved to Madison County. Alabama in December, 1840.... Deacon in Baptist Church... left several children and grandchildren as well as an aged consort.... This aged wife he leaves behind was POLLY HALE, daughter of JORDAN and SOPHIA HALE, who resided in Delaware, Sussex County. Brother DALE at the age of 15 years was a volunteer in a company raised in his county consisting wholly of boys of his age or near about it to endeavor to arrest progress of CORNWALLIS; he commanded a company of volunteers raised in Tennessee and fought bravely and successfully in the Creek War and at the battle of Horseshoe. He was wounded, his company in the thickest of the fight and stood whole force of enemy for 40 mintues until reinforced by JACKSON. His son, THOMAS DALE was a volunteer with him in the same war....
