Died at his residence in Madison X Roads of typhoid fever on 8 February 1853, MARTIN COLE, JR. aged about 40 years leaving behind a large family to mourn their loss. Highly respectable citizen.... E. minister in Athens, Alabama 1844)...L March 2, 1853 Married on 8 of February by REV. DR. HUTTON, BREVET COLONEL CHARLES A. MAY of USA to MISS JOSEPHINE, daughter of GEORGE LAW, Esq. of New York. On evening of 22 by REV. S. S. YARBROUGH, DR. LUCIAN MINOR to MISS ANN ELIZA MOSELEY, daughter of REV. J. P. MOSELEY (M. E.), all of Morgan County. On 24 by REV. B. C. CHAPMAN at residence of MR. RISON, WILLIAM C. ELLIOTT of this place to MISS EMILY BABCOCK of Oswego, New York (volume 119, page 12). Died on 23 at residence of MRS. POSEY, WILLIAM, infant son of MR. and MRS. W. P. BEDLOCK aged 5 months 10 days. March 9, 1853 Died in Pike County, Alabama on Sunday, the 20th December last, MR. WM. WICKER. The deceased was about 106 years. He served as a soldier in the revolutionary war. He was in the battle of Eutaw Springs and was engaged in several skirmishes with the British and Tories under GEN. MARION of South Carolina (Spirit of the South). March 16, 1853 Died in Athens on Monday, March 7 of consumption, MR. ARCHER ALLEN JOHNSON aged 29-6-13 (also in Fayetteville (Tennessee) Observer March 24, 1853). March 23, 1853 Married in Rogersville on 3 by REV. MR. BRADSHAW, MR. LUTHER DUNN (21 in North Carolina, son of GRAY) to MISS ELIZABETH NANCE (16 in Alabama, daughter of STERLING) all of Lauderdale County. On 16th by REV. JAMES WALSTON, MR. W. B. TAYLOR to MISS HANNAH A. ISBELL of Lauderdale County. On 10th by REV. JAMES KIRKLAND, MR. DANIEL T. WELLBORN (22 in Alabama) to MISS MIRA E. TATE (ELMIRA; 15 in Alabama) both of Madison County. Funeral sermon of MISS SARAH BIBB will be preached at Jordan's Chapel on 4th Sabbath in this month at 11 o'clock by REV. MR. PLUMMER. March 30, 1853 Married on evening of 16th by REV. H. S.
