September 11 1856 Married on morning of 3rd by REV. G. GARRETT, Judge A. B. MEEK to MRS. EMMA D. SLATTER, both of the city of Mobile. Married on 2nd instant by REV. W. D. F. SAWRIE, MR. ACHILLES NOEL to MISS MARY A. A., daughter of MR. JAMES NEELEY, all of this place. Died in Jackson County on 28th, CHARLES LEWIS ROACH in his 59th year of age. For 30 years he was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. (1850 Census shows him 52 in Virginia; volume 144, page 56; boro in Amherst County, Virginia September 9, 1797, died Jackson County, Alabama August 28, 1856) Died on 3rd instant after a short illness, MRS. IDELIA SAWRIE, wife of REV. W. D. F. SAWRIE, leaving many devoted to mourn her loss. She was a devoted wife, a faithful mother and a pious Christian. (1850 census shows her 26 in Alabama) September 18, 1856 Married on Saturday the 7th by REV. MILTON BROWN, MR. ZEPHANIAH GIDEON to MISS ELIZA JANE WOOD, all of Jackson County. Married on Wednesday morning, September 3rd by REV. J. GUNN, JAS. THROCKMORTON, Esq. to MISS MARY M. ELLETT, daughter of EDMUND ELLETT, Esq., all of Tuscumbia. (This was 2nd marriage for him; he was 41 in New Jersey in 1850 census; she was 21 in Virginia) Married on 13th by BENJAMIN STEGER, Esq., MR. RICHARD B0WHANN0N to MISS MARY PARKER, all of this county. Died in Wilmington, North Carolina on Wednesday September 3rd, JAMES H. WEAKLEY of Florence, Alabama...he was on his way to Virginia Springs to complete his restoration to health when without a moments warning he was stricken with apoplexy...(1850 census shows him 52 in Virginia). Died at the residence of MR. JOHN S. BEALLE on 9th, SIMENE EDDINS, infant daughter of JOHN R. and JENNY BEALLE. Died of apoplexy at residence of CAPT. J. W. RHEA in the town of Tuscumbia, on evening of 1 September, MRS. SARAH BLOCKER, wife of COL. ABNER BLOCKER, deceased in 59th year. . (1850 census shows her 46 in North Carolina) Died on 12th, H. PETWAY, one of the oldest citizens of Nashville. Died on night of 15th in this place, MR. JESSE LAWLER aged about 19 years. September 25, 1856 Married on 10th by H. W. PICKENS, Esq., MR. THOMPSON BROWNE to MISS ELIZABETH J. OWEN, both.of Black Creek Falls, Cherokee County. On 10th by REV. T. A. WEATHERSPOON, MR. JAMES H. WOODLIE to MISS LAURA J. PRICE, all of Jackson County. Married on 10th by REV. WM. GREENE, MR. G(EORGE) P. BRAY, of Jackson County to MISS MARTHA C. GRAYSON of Madison County. Married on 18th by REV. ALEXANDER PENLAND, MR. SAMUEL HENRY to MISS CHARITY E. FENNELL, all of Marshall County. Died on 3rd by 10 p.m. at his residence 4 miles East of Vienna, MR. JOHN STAPLER, deceased was born in Columbia County, Georgia and emigrated to this county in the year 1816, where he lived until the day of his death aged 81 years 3 months 3 weeks 4 days, leaving a wife and 4 children, 30 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. (1850 census shows him aged 75 in Georgia) Died on 10 July last in St. Francis County, Arkansas, WILLIAM EDGAR PEEVY, eldest son of WILLIAM H. and P. F. BAXTER, formerly of this county aged 13 years 1 week 3 days. Died on 16th MARY TIZZY OTEY, eldest daughter of N. W. and T. A. PEEVY of Limestone County aged 3 years 5 months 8 weeks and 3 days. EDGAR and LIZZY were cousins. Died on 19th, LEILA PATTON, infant daughter of MAJ. and MRS. J. J. WARD of this place. Died on 17th, CHAMPION EASTER; on 18th, B(ENJAMIN) F. WILKINSON, both citizens of Limestone County. (1850 census shows CHAMPION EASTER 70 in Virginia; the latter 32 in Alabama) October 2, 1856 Married on 24th in Huntsville at the residence of BILL SPENCE by REV. P. B. ROBINSON, MR. H. J.
