Died in Lockhart, Texas September 9th of typhoid fever, WILLIAM H. ROSS, son of REV. F. A. ROSS of Huntsville, Alabama. Died on Friday morning, October 17th, MARY FRANCES, infant daughter of GEORGE E. and MARGARET E. NAFF aged 1 year 6 days. Died Saturday morning October 19th at residence in Limestone County MR. SAMUEL MOORE in 56th year. (In 1850 census, he was aged 48 bom in North Carolina) Died on 26th, PATTIE, daughter of MRS. A. BRADLEY of this place. On 16th, GASTON, infant son of GEORGE H. and JANE WARWICK of this place died. November 20 1856 Married on 4th at residence of CHANCELLOR VAN DYKE by REV. G. A. CALDWELL, COL. THOS. B. SAMPLE of Charleston, South Carolina to MISS KATE R., daughter of the late COL. V. M. CAMPBELL of Athens (McMinn County), Tennessee. Married on 13th by H. H. HAAN, Esq., MR. JAMES A. RUSSELL to MISS NANCY A. CARPENTER, all of Madison County. Married at Southern Hotel in Huntsvilel on 12th by REV. M. M. HENKLE, MR. JOHN F. DENNIS to MISS CHARITY C. HARRALL of this county. Married on Monday morning the 17th in this place by REV. W. D. F. SAWRIE, MR. WILLIAM W. LEA of Grainger County, Tennessee to MISS ELIZA L. 2nd daughter of JOHN H. LEWIS. Died in Courtland, Alabama on the 20th, MISS MARTHA R. McMAHON in her 30th year of age. Died in this place on 15th, HARRIET N., daughter of the late RICHARD LIPSCOMB in her 14th year. November 27, 1856 Married on 18th by REV. HENRY C. LAY, DR. JOHN S. PICKETT of Mooresville, Alabama to MISS MATTIE W., daughter of the late WILLIAM BLACKWELL of Limestone County (volume 223, page 66). Married on 19th by REV. J. C. ELLIOTT, MR. HENRY J. BAILY (FARRAR or FARVAR) to MISS SARAH A. FAVOR of Limestone County (volume 223, page 66) . Married on Wednesday morning at the residence of the bride's father, R(HODERICK) JOYNER, Esq. of Athens, by REV. J. SEAL, WILLIAM BROWN, Esq. of Giles County, Tennessee to MISS MARY P. JOINER (volume 223 , page 66). Married on 19th near Havana, Greene County, Alabama by REV. THOMAS WINN, DR. DAVID T. MORROW (20 in Alabama; Morgan County) of Somerville, Alabama to MISS ELIZA A. (183-81), only duaghter of THOMAS E. (1810-74, born in South Carolina) and JANE W. WILSON (1815-81, born in South Carolina). Died on Thursday the 20th at his residence, MR. SAMUEL TOWNSEND of this county, aged about 55 years. He was one of the early settlers of this county and was industrious and frugal in his habits. By his strict attention to his own business, he became one of the largest cotton planters in the county. He was well known and leaves many relations to lament his death. (Note: He is buried on the Townsend plantation at Hazel Green, Madison County, Alabama and his tombstone reads: "SAMUEL TOWNSEND bom May 12, 1804, died November 19, 1856. Bom in Virginia." Died on 8th October MRS. LETTICE MEACHAM aged about 60 years, a very worthy, pious lady of Limestone County. (Note: See our volume 115 page 74 for reference to HENRY MEACHAM and wife LETTICE in 1816 in Madison County. Died in Limestone County on 15th October, WILLIAM LOVE in the 82nd year of his age. Born in Southampton County, Virginia, emigrated to Tennessee in 1814 from thence to this county in 1818 where he has since lived, much respected. (1850 Census shows him aged 75, born in Virginia.) Died at Pulaski House, Tennessee on 23rd, MARY AMANDA, only child of J. M. H. and ELIZABETH M. SMITH aged 14 months. December 4, 1856 Married on the 20th by REV. MR. KLINE, MR. ROBERT B. TYUS and MISS MARY H. MERIDITH, all of Tuscumbia. 572 - (3872)
