Departed this life at her residence in Madison County on the 5th, MRS. MARY HEWLETT, widow of JOHN W. HEWLETT, deceased, in the 73rd year of her age. Native of Henry County, Virginia. Shortly after her marriage she emigrated with her husband to Tennessee and from thence to Madison County, Alabama, where she resided until her death. Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. (1850 census shows her aged 68 born in Virginia) July 30, 1857 Married in Tuscaloosa on 21st by REV. R. D. NEVINS, MISS MARY E(LIZABETH), eldest daughter of HON. J(OHN) J. ORMAND to DR. J(OHN) W. MALLET, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Alabama. (Tuscaloosa County marriage book 1855-1859, page 253; JOHN W. MALLET to MARY E. ORMAND 17 July 1857 (21 July at residence of JUDGE ORMAND by R. D. NEVINS, Rector of Christ Church). Married in Tuscumbia, July 16th, at the residence of M. J. WARREN, Esq. by REV. J. R. HARRELL, MR. JOHN M. WARREN to MISS ANNA E. HUSTON, 2nd daughter of DR. N(ATHANIEL) J. HUSTON. Married on Tuesday morning last at the residence of JNO. S. BLAIR, by REV. J. H. DUNN, MR. HOLMAN FARRAR to MISS SALLIE JONES, daughter of HAMILTON JONES, Esq. all of Limestone County (volume 223, page 71; married 21st at residence of DR. JOHN S. BLAIR by T. G. SELLERS). Died on 23rd instant MR. ROBERT I. HART of this place. Died on July 6, 1857, FANNIE A. J., daughter of L. G. and M. A. FIGG, in her 14th year. Died at the residence of her father in Jefferson County, Arkansas on the 10th, FRANCIS N. JENKINS, child of JAMES H. and LOUISIANA JENKINS aged 8 years 3 months 23 days. Died on the 24th, FRANK ATLEE, infant son of MR. and MRS. ISAIAH DILL of this place. Died July 24, 1857, ALONZO JAY, infant son of T. J. and E. A. HUCKABEE aged 1 year 7 months 10 days. Died--MRS. LILA JANE, consort of MR. JNO. R. F. HEWLETT near Maysville, Alabama. Bom May 28, 1818, born spiritually September 1837. Member of Methodist Episcopal Church South at Maysville, died 23 July 1857.... August 6, 1857 Married in Memphis, Tennessee July 7th by REV. MR. SEADMAN, MR. FRANK A. DUVAL of Grenada (Mississippi) Locomotive and MISS MARY E. A. MABSON. Married in Blount County on the 9th by REV. N. CRUMP, MR. E(MORY) J. COZBY to MISS MARY JANE COWDEN. Died at the residence of her husband near this city on the 24th of July 1857, MRS. SARAH J. HALSEY, wife of MR. HENRY HALSEY in the 27th year of her age ... devoted wife and mother...presbyterian. Died in Decatur, Alabama on the 1st, after an illness of some weeks, from teething, FANNY BUCHANAN, infant daughter of W. G. and the late SOPHRONIA LOCKE aged 12 months and 10 days. (see page 61 for her obituary) Died in Tuscumbia on the 25th, SAML M. GREEN aged 25. Well known citizen and manager of Franklin House of that place.
