Married in Tuscumbia on 11 August by ELDER J. GUNN, MR. JESSE BROWN and MISS MINERVA WHITE of Tuscumbia, Alabama. Died of congestion of the lungs at Corinth, Mississippi on August 5th, WAVERLY, son of JAMES and ELEANOR ALFRIEND (married ELEANOR J. ROBINSON 6 May 1851; volume 7--; see volume 42) aged 4 years 10 months 11 days. Died, MR. ROBERT ITHUELL HART, youngest and third son of THOMAS and SUSAN HART. Born October 6, 1829 died July 29, 1857 being in his 28th year. Married October 2, 1850 MISS MARY E. HALSEY. Kind husband, father and son. Left a wife and 2 lovely children. I. 0. 0. F .. Tuscumbia North Alabamian copy. (Note: He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama. Census gives Alabama as his birthplace) Died on 17th, MOSES MILLER, an old and respectable citizen of this county. Native of East Tennessee. Aged about 80 years. (Census gives his age as 49 born in Tennessee and tombstone shows he was born August 14, 1800, died August 17, 1857; buried at Holmes Chapel in Big Cove.) August 27, 1857 Married on the 20th, by ELDER R. W. CRUTCHER, MR. CLAIBORNE S. ROGERS to MISS SARAH ANN LEWIS--both of this county. Died in Athens on the 15th, MRS. MARGARET B. CARTWRIGHT, wife of RICHARD H. CARTWRIGHT (married in Limestone County 16 April 1844 MARGARET D. (should be B), volume 187, page 49). Left a husband and 6 children. (1850 Census shows her aged 30 born in Alabama) Died at Bailey Springs on the 17th, MRS. SARAH D. COOLEY, wife of MR. TIMOTHY COOLEY of Tuscumbia in her 48th year. (1850 Census shows aged 36 born in New York; her husband aged 41 born in Ireland) Died on the 18th at the residence of D. M. MARTIN, Esq. in Bellefonte, MR. HENRY DAVIS aged about 90 years. (volume 144, page 2; HENRY DAVIS, SEN. born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina August 27. 1767; died in Bellefonte, Alabama August 18, 1857) September 3, 1857 Married on 6th August by REV. DR. ERWIN, BENJAMIN B. ROGERS, Esq. to MISS MARGARET S. THOMPSON, both of this county. (1850 Census shows him aged 58 born in Virginia) Married on 25th of August by REV. J. R. HARWELL, MR. GEORGE A. WOOD to MISS EDMONIA V. WILBURN, all of Tuscumbia. Married in this place August 26th by REV. P. B. ROBINSON, MR. ROBERT A. LANFORD of this vicinity to MISS ISABELLA A. JONES. Married on the 27th instant near Bellefonte, MR. A. A. GAY to MISS DELILA ARMBRESTER. Married on the 25th by A. J. JOHNSON, Esq. , MR. HOWELL HORTON and MISS AMANDA C. MEADOWS, all of Limestone County (volume 223. page 71). Married in this place, September 1st. by REV. P. B. ROBINSON, MR. JAMES E. SEAT and MISS MARTHA J. WEAVER. Died on Tuesday morning August 18th at her residence in this county, MRS. REBECCA M. STEGER, widow of the late JOHN P. STEGER in her 79th year. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for a great many years. She left a large circle of relations and friends to mourn her loss. Note: This was REBEKAH MACON HARRIS, widow of JOHN PERRATT STEGER. She was daughter of FRANCI EPPES HARRIS and wife ANN MACON, early settlers of Madison County, Alabama from Powhatan and Cumberland Counties, Virginia. See our HARRIS and Allied Families. September 10, 1857 Married on 19th at Greenville, Georgia by REV. HENRY W. HILLIARD (Methodist), COL. JOHN COCHRAN to MISS KATE, daughter of COL. ALFRED WELLBORN of Merriwether. Married on 1st by REV. R. H. RIVERS, D.D., WARREN W. PEDEN, Esq. of Franklin County to MISS SARAH L. MATTISON of Tuscumbia. Married in San Francisco, California on 4th of August, MR. ALEX P. GREENE to MISS JESSIE EARLY POSEY, formerly of Huntsville, Alabama. Married September 3rd, 1857 by REV. THOMAS MADDIN, MR. C. C. SALE and MISS SALLIE POLK CONNALLY, all of Madison County. Married on the 20th at the residence of JACK PHILLIPS, Esq. by REV. WILLIAM ATWELL, RICHARD A. BAILEY to MISS MARY JANE PHILLIPS, daughter of JACK PHILLIPS, all of Lauderdale County. 583 - (3883)
