Married in Limestone County on the 17th by REV. R. P. RIDDLE, MR. WILLIAM W. BATES to MISS M(ARTHA) A. F. SANDLIN (volume 223, page 72). Married on 22nd by REV. DR. WHITE, of Florence, MR. JOHN A. PERSON and MISS HELEN, daughter of JAMES THROCKMORTON of Tuscumbia. Died in this place on 26th, MR. ABRAM BRANSFORD aged 77. Born in Virginia but removed to this county about 1817 where he has since resided. Methodist. See our volumes 136 and 137 for marriage and other records. Died September 22, 1857 in Giles County, Tennessee of typhoid fever, MR. JOHN C. HOLLOWAY aged 29 years 7 months 7 days.... Died on the Uth, MRS. FRANCIS HARDY, wife of MR. CHARLES HARDY, living near Berah, Limestone County. October 8, 1857 MRS. JANE DINAMORE, a revolutionary relic, wife of the late JAMES DINAMORE died on 31st August last in Morgan County aged 89 years. In 1810 with her father, ANDREW McDANIEL she settled near Huntsville. She was for 50 years a member of the Presbyterian Church and worshiped with it years ago in the Court House in this place. She was truly a mother of Israel. (See our volume 32 for pension, Bible records, etc. In the pension, the name "McDANIEL" applears as McDONALD, and in Bible as "McDONNELL," which descendants say is correct.) J. LIPSCOMB, a worthy citizen of Montgomery died a few days ago. October 15, 1857 Married in Fayetteville, Tennessee on the 8th, DR. H. S. DAVIS to MISS FANNIE P. STRONG, daughter of CHARLES W. STRONG, Esq., all of this county. Married in Maysville on the 11th instant by REV. M. H. BONE, DAVID S. NOWLIN, Esq. to MISS ELVIRA A. RUTHERFORD, both of this county. Married on the 3rd by J. A. JOHNSON, Esq. , ALFRED CLEM to MISS SARAH J. HARVEY, all of Limestone (volume 223, page 72 of ALFRED A. CLEM to JANE HARVEY). Married on 7th in Court House in Athens by J. A. JOHNSON, Esq., JAMES SCHRIMSHER to NANCY HENRY (volume 223, page 72). Died on 8th in this county, MR. JOHN WELLS in his 70th year. Native of South Carolina but has lived in this county ever since 1812 where he enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. (1850 census shows him aged 60 bom in South Carolina) Died in this vicinity on the morning of the 10th, ALONZO SCOTT, infant son of W(INSLOW) L. and E(LIZA) A(NN) DYER aged 17 months and 2 days. Died in Lawrence County on the 15th ult, JOHN L(EE) ASH (24 in Alabama; son of WM.) aged 31. (1850 census shows him aged 24 born in Alabama in family of WM. ASH.) October 29, 1857 Married on Tuesday evening at the residence of the bride's father by PROF. J. SHACKELFORD. MR. ASA M. HODGES (26 in Alabama) to MISS MARTHA HODGES (15 in Alabama), daughter of DANIEL HODGES, Esq. (42 in South Carolina), all of Lawrence County. On October 14th by REV. L. Q. ALLEN, MR. M. F. AMOS of Larkinsville, Alabama to MISS AMANDA E. HOLMES, daughter of JAMES G. HOLMES of Dade County. Georgia. (Letter from MRS. J. B. SHELTON, New Albany, Mississippi, 1956, "JAMES G. HOLMES and ELIZ. B. NEWTON were married in Georgia. They lived in Jackson County, Alabama but not sure whether they died there or in Dade County. Georgia) Married on 21st, WILLIAM S. CHAPMAN, Esq., Editor of the Talladega Democratic Watchtower, to MISS K. L.. daughter of GEN. L. W. LAWLER of that county. (Note; She was KATHERINE LETTICE, daughter of GEN. LEVI W. LAWLER) Married on the evening of the 15th by JOHN W. IRBY, Esq., MR. JOSHUA ESTES to MISS MARY ANN LANDMAN? (LARD in marriage record) of Madison County (volume 119, page 17).
