September 11, 1878 xH Died of congestion in Phillip(s) County, Arkansas, August 3rd, MOLLIE, eldest daughter of HARVEY and MARY NANCE, aged 19 years and 1 month. September 25, 1878 Died at his late residence on Monte Sano of pernicious bilious fever Friday, September 20, 1878, ROBERT HERSTEIN in the 47th year of his age. Born in Grand Duchy of Hesse, Dermstadt, Germany and came to this country in his teens; located for several years at Leesburg, Virginia and moved to Huntsville in 1855...merchant. Leaves a widow and 7 children. November 13, 1878 Married in this city November 11 by REV. C. W. HEARN, MR. THOMAS H. McAllister and miss amy stine.... February 25, 1880 Died at his residence in this city Sunday, February 22, THOMAS S. McCALLEY, native of Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Born February 13, 1807. Removed when quite a young man to Huntsville. Successful merchant and planter. Member of Episcopal Church. June 9, 1880 Died in this city at the residence of her mother, MRS. CARUTHERS on Tuesday afternoon, MRS. COLTART, widow of the late ROBERT W. COLTART after a long illness. June 23, 1880 Died the 17th instant at her husband's in Moulton (Lawrence County), MRS. NAOMI SOPHIA PETERS (28 in Alabama), wife of JUDGE THOMAS M. PETERS (39 in Tennessee) of that place. The deceased was born in Lawrence County and was the daughter of WILLIAM and NAOMI LEETCH (73 in North Carolina). Her mother was the aunt of PRESIDENT POLK. Educated at celebrated school Southmayd in Huntsville. Married June 26, 1838 in her 18th year to THOMAS M. PETERS, then a young lawyer but afterwards Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of this state. Presbyterian. Died in her 60th year. Left a husband and 5 children. (see her mother in 1850 census) August 11, 1880 Death of two old and highly r-spected citizens MR. CHARLES W. HEREFORD, prominent merchant and life long resident of this county, died after a brief illness at his residence in this city last Saturday morning in his 46th year. Remains deposited in the city cemetery by Knights of Honor. MR. G. S. MASTIN, leading planter of this county died at his residence in this city yesterday evening in his 56th year. Both leave a large circle of relatives. September 15, 1880 Died Saturday last. 11th instant at his residence in this city, JAMES W. POLLARD, an old and respectable citizen. Born in this city in 1828 and had been continuously connected with municipal government since 1855. September 22, 1880 JUDGE MANNING of Alabama Supreme Court is no more. He died on the night of 17th in New York. Elected to Supreme Court Bench 6 years ago and re-elected without opposition last August. Alabama mourns the loss of one of her noblest sons. WILLIAM C. McPHERSON died Tuesday at midnight after illness of 3 days...his father, COL. JOHN W. McPHERSON of Hopkinsville, Kentucky arrived a few hours before his son's death. October 13, 1880 COL. JOSEPH C. BRADLEY died the 6th at his residence in this city. Born near Abingdon, Virginia in 1810, he removed to Madison County, Alabama in 1825 and began business career as clerk in large commission 590 - (3890)
