May 9, 1855 MRS. B. B. LEWIS of Franklin County died April 23 at Mobile, Alabama. NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER Washington, D.C. January 3, 1823 JAMES W. PETERS, 2nd son of GEN. ABSALOM PETERS, of Lebanon, Connecticut aged 31 died 1 January 1823 at Blakely, Alabama. He moved to Alabama in 1815 and was a pioneer settler at Blakely in 1817. His firm, PETERS and STEBBINS, had a large and successful business there. He was elected representative to the Territorial Legislature in 1819 and subsequently was appointed Chief Justice of Baldwin County. April 21. 1823 HON. JOHN WILLIAM WALKER, late U.S. Senator from Alabama, died in his 40th year. July 30, 1823 MRS. AMY TOULMIN. wife of JOHN D. TOULMIN, died near St. Stephens, Alabama 3 June 1823. She was born at Falmouth, Cornwall, England 18 May 1789 and out of 4 children lost 3 soon after her removal to America. She was born of a Quaker family and professed the faith of the Friends. August 20, 1823 MAJ. THOMAS McHENRY of Montevallo died in Jonesborough, Jefferson County, Alabama 7 August 1823. At the time of his death he was a candidate for Congress in the District in which he lived. September 11, 1823 JOHN S. FULTON died at Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama. September 11, 1823 CAPT. SAMUEL RIDDLE, late of the army, and last sutler at the Barrancas died at St. Stephens, Alabama 28 July 1823. He was of a humble but respectable family in Pennsylvania. Immediately after the declaration of the War of 1812 he entered his country's service as a Private. He was actively engaged in nearly all of the Northern campaigns. September 17, 1823 MRS. MARTHA PICKENS, wife of HON. ISRAEL PICKENS, Governor of Alabama, died at her husband's residence 16 September 1823. She leaves a husband and four children. 609 - (3909)
