CLIFT CEMETERY "? LOCATION: Sec. 29-3S-2W. NW NW NW SW. In a field a few yards south of High-way 20 (University Drive). CLIFT, JOHN H. - Born Sept. 5, 1821 - died March 25, 1893. CLIFT, MARY - Born Aug. 4, 1820 - died June 24, 1897. Note: These stones are the only two left in this tiny family plot but there may have been others originally. These stones are covered with dirt and are broken into many pieces; they will not survive much longer. Both are marble uprights. Census, Nov. 4, 1850: Clift, John H. (29) Ala. farmer - $100. Mary (30) Tenn. Francis M. ( 6) Ala. Nancy C. ( 4) Ala. Martha J. ( 3) Ala. -M- Wm. J. McCravy 1-16-1872 (MB-6) Mary L. (1/12) Ala. McCAULEY CEMETERY (2) LOCATION: Sec. 31-3S-2W. E/2 SE SW. In a cow pasture behind a stock barn just south of Highway 20 (University Drive); one-half mile west of the Highway 20 and Wall Highway intersection. Note: This small family cemetery is in deplorable condition to the point there is hardly anything left to show it is a cemetery. Cattle have been turned into the pasture in which the cemetery is located and have destroyed and scattered the stones. There were four ''sinks" indicating graves but only the broken parts of two markers were left. Both markers were beautifully lettered marble uprights. I looked about for pieces of these stones in order to reconstruct them but they were nowhere to be found. Careful probing in the ground did not reveal any other stones even though there were obviously several more graves. McCAULEY, MARTHA - Born 184.., died............(rest of stone gone). McCAULEY, MARTIN - Born 18.., ......May..........(rest of stone gone). 229 - (450)
