GRAY CEMETERY (3) LOCATION: Sec. 5-4S-2W. SE SW SW NW. ANERTON, JAMES - James Anerton Died March 25, 1898 Aged 38 years. May the resturrection find thee on the Bosom of God. (Note: This stone was broken and lying in pieces. There was another grave next to this one with an identical stone but the top part with the inscription on it was missing.) BARBEE, JOHNNIE L. - Johnnie L., son of J. A. & E. M. Barbee. Born Mar 6, 1898, died October 16, 1898. We will meet again. BLACKBURN, JOHN W. - John W. Blackburn Was Born Aprile 12, 1775. Died Feb. 14, 1854. (Note: This was a brick covered grave). Census, Nov. 6, 1850: Blackburn, John W. (75) Pa., farmer. James ( 3) Ala. David W. (22) Ala. -M- Martha Sue Dublin 12-18-1850 (MB-4A). GRAY, JAMES - In Memory of James Gray, died April 16, 1850 Aged 62 years. A mark of respect, By his wife Jane Gray. GRAY, JANE - In Memory of Jane Gray, Died May 9, 1858 in her 69th years. Note: The 1850 census lists Jane Gray as 62 years old, bom in Ireland, and making her home with the James H. Pride family. GRAY, ELEANOR - Here lies the Body of Eleanor Gray. She departed this life December 15th, 1822 in the 65th Year of Her Age. GRAY, WILLIAM - In Memory of William Gray who Died August 14th, 1834 aged 79 years. (Note: A Revolutionary Soldier.) GRAY, JOSEPH - In Memory of Joseph Gray who Departed this Life March........ 1829 in the ... year of his Age. Note: The graves of Eleanor, William and Joseph were together and covered with brick. At the head of each of these brick covered graves is a sandstone marker. The inscriptions on Joseph's and William's headstones have all but eroded away but Eleanor's is in better condition. When facing these headstones, Eleanor's is on the left, William's in the center and Joseph's on the right. It will be only a short time before all identification will have weathered off these stones and then it will be impossible to tell who is in which grave. HANSEN, D. R. - B B 1933. (Note: Crudely carved on a fieldstone. No other info.). LEONARD, HENRY DWIGHT - Henry Dwight, son of James L. R. & Sarah Leonard, Died August 15, 1853 Aged 1 Year, 11 Months & 16 Days. (Note: Next to this grave is the unmarked, rock-covered grave of a child). MAXWELL, MARGARET A. - Sacred to The Memory of Margaret A., daughter of David & Margaret Maxwell, died Septr 16th, 1835 Aged 6 Years, 2 Mo., &26 Days. (Note: Brick covered grave. Very near, but one row down from this grave are five rock-covered tombs without identification. The first is that of a youngster, the next 3 are adults and the one on the far right end is a baby.) 230 - (451)
