DONEGAN CEMETERY (19) LOCATION: Sec. 26-4S-1W. N/2 N/2 NW NE. On line between Sections 23 and 26. This family cemetery was moved from the above location to Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville in 1966. Since graves and tombstones were moved they will appear in the volume containing Maple Hill Cemetery. The following is Resolution No. 66-241, in part, as it appeared in the Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Alabama, dated October 13, 1966: "BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Alabama, as follows: That the City of Huntsville, Alabama, will abandon a certain cemetery in the City of Huntsville, Alabama, known as the Old Donegan Cemetery, said Cemetery being located at the site of the proposed sewage treatment plant which lies South of Vermont Road and East of Huntsville Spring Branch, being more particularly described as follows: All that part of the Southeast Quarter of Section 23 and the Northeast Quarter of Section 26, Township 4 South, Range 1 West, in the City of Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, ... containing 0. 56 acres, more or less. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the removal of the human remains from said cemetery heretofore described shall begin on the 19th day of December, 1966, and that the said human remains removed from said cemetery shall be interred in the Maple Hill Cemetery here in the City, on or about the 19th day of December, 1966.
