GODBEY - Evaline M. Godbey. Our Precious Mother. On the certain hope of a glorious resurrection through the grace of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Here rests Evaline M. Godbey who was the wife of Rev. Crockett Godbey and the daughter of James R. and Rachel Forgey of Hawkins Co., Tenn., and who fell on sleep June 10, 1914 at Decatur, Alabama in the 78th year of her age. With all the earnestness given to mortals she adored righteousness, shunned evil, deplored the world's suffering, strove to relieve its distress, wrought for the prosperity of Zion, and experienced the actual knowledge of things spiritual. Faithful unto death she hath done what she could. Yet in our ears till hearing dies, one set slow bell will seem to toll the passing of the truest soul, that ever looked with human eyes.
GODBEY - Rev. Crockett Godbey, Born May 23, 1818, in Montgomery County, Virginia., died September 20, 1901. Methodist Preacher 56 years. Holston and North Ala. Conference. But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest and stand in thy place at the end of the days. Daniel 12:13. (Note: CSA Marker No. 345 on this grave.)
