Cemeteries of Madison County, Vol. II, page 176

NORRIS-LYLE CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 4-2-2E - NE SW SE SE ) In the field off Frank Hereford Rd. approx. 2 city blocks west ---------- ) point where Frank Hereford Road jogs east. This small family cemetery is located in the back yard of a very old home that is vacant and falling in. The home was originally built of logs that appeared to be hand-hewn, with additions made to the house in later years. An 1875 map of Madison County showed this place as being owned by a Powers at the time. A newspaper, dated in 1948, had been tacked onto one of the walls of the house as insulation which indicated its occupancy after that time. The logs in this home were large and straight. This is one of the log homes in this county, in my opinion, that should be saved. LYLE - Little Sadie, daughter of J. C. & Alice Lyle, born October 6, 1893, died May 14, 1897. Our darling one hath gone before to greet us on the blissful shore. CAMPBELL - Frances Campbell............... 1876, age 9 months. C. ..........19, 1887 aged 75 years, 13 days. A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled. (Kitchens Bros., Winchester [Tenn.] stone cutter.) Note: The top half of the above stone had been broken off and could not be located. I am certain it is the stone of E. B. Norris, above, which was replaced by a more modern stone. ... • "L. S. L. " Note: These initials were carved on a footstone. It had probably marked the grave of one of the Lyle family but I could not find a matching headstone. Neither the 1830 or 1850 census lists a Lyle family in Madison County. POWER CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 9-2S-2E - N/2 N/2 N/2 NW/4. This cemetery is located in a clump of brush by the side of Frank Hereford Road. People living in the area say there are several people buried here, however, they do not know who they are and only two stones have survived. POWER - Patsy Power, Wife of James Power.
