Henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness. Note: There were several unmarked graves in this large plot and several graves marked with unlettered fieldstones. This cemetery has been sadly neglected for many years and all the box tombs have fallen in. The inscriptions are on the lids and are becoming so weathered they will be impossible to read in a few years. This cemetery lies at the edge of a thick forest and is overgrown so as to resemble a jungle. J. Richard Cavett entered and settled this property in 1809 as one of Madison County's first pioneer settlers. It is interesting to note that on September 28, 1808, in Tazewell County, Va., there is a record of A Power of Attorney from Richard Cavet to John Peery and Thomas Perry which was proven, in part, by the oaths of John Pruiett, Jr. and John Crockett. On August 7, 1816, in Madison County, Alabama, Nancy Cavett married William W. Pruett.[Marriage Book I.] The following are the only Cavetts listed in the Madison County 1850 Census: Census, Oct. 31, 1850 Cavit, Moses 63 Tenn. -$11,000. Mary 56 Va. Census, Nov. 4, 1850 Cavit, Robert A. 24 Ala., Farmer Sarah 19 " Robert 3 " Mildred 1/12 " 241 - (845)
