HARRIS CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 17-3-1E. SE SE. On south side of Highway 72 East at the intersection of Moores Mill Road and Highway 72 East. In a large clump of trees on a small rise. Note: There are many, many graves in this cemetery but in the fall of 1975 only those listed below were found to have markers. ??" "J. H. L." - Note: I could not locate a headstone to this footstone. MEAD - In Memory of Lemuel Mead, Born June 18, 1790 - Died June 11th, 1836 aged 46 years. ROACH - Mary Perratt Roach, wife of John H. Roach And daughter of John P. and Rebekah M. Steger. Born March 7th 1815 - Died June 28th 1843 In the 29th Year of her age. SHELTON - LU. LER. ELER SHELTON. B. 1877 D. 1880. [Copied exact. When I canvassed this cemetery I spoke to the owner of the property, Mrs. Lula Powell and she told me that the Shelton child was no relation and that the family was from somewhere around Gurley. She did not know why the child was buried in this cemetery.] BENTLY - Col. Bently - Born Jan. 23, 1837 - Died March .... 1839 Note: This is the old home site and family graveyard of Francis Eppes Harris; descendants believe he and his wife are buried here but if they are they are in unmarked graves. HARRIS CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 17-3-1E. S/2 S/2 SE/4. Near a spring and a restored servant's quarter. Note: Even though there were several burials at this place only one stone survived. It has since been removed from that location and now lies behind the manor home. Family descendents believe Eliza Gay Harris and infant children are buried here in unmarked graves.
