PAYNE CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 6-3-2E - SW SW NW. This cemetery now lies in the pasture of a dairy farm. The cattle have not destroyed the stones but have kept the area cleared of overgrowth. For its age the burial ground and stones are extremely well preserved. SIMPSON - Samuel Simpson Borne Oct. 27, 1847 - Died Mar. 24, 1858. THOMPSON - Margaret Thompson, Born March 5, 1864 - Died Sept. 23, 1867. DOUGLASS - Lenora, Daughter of John A. & Lenora D. Douglass - Born ) Feb. 1, 1856 - Died July 21, 1856. ) Dbl. This obelisk ) had an inscription on DOUGLASS - Sacred to the Memory of Leonora D., consort of John A. ) the front and side. Douglass - Born July 22, 1835 - Died Aug. 13, 1856. ) DOUGLASS - Sacred to the Memory of Mary J., consort of Wm. M. Douglass - Born Feb. 6, 1831 - Died Oct. 20, 1861. Census, Nov. 19, 1850 Douglass, Wm. M. 24 Ala., farmer - $4500. ) Wm. M. Douglass -m- Mary J. Mary Jane 19 " ) Laughinghouse 9-20-1848 (MB-4A) PAUL - Sacred to the Memory of Susan Jane, wife of James A. Paul - Born April 11, 1835, Died Aug. 24, 1870. Note: There were two graves surrounded by a rock wall. The following inscription was set into one end of the wall: PAYNE - To the Memory of Eliser Payne, wife of W. F. Payne - Departed this life January the 30, 1835 aged 24 years. PAYNE - Also to the memory of W. F. Payne who died January 13, 1856 aged 61 years & 7 days. Note: Wm. F. Payne -m- Elizabeth Haughton Oct. 1, 1829 (MB-3) CONNALLY CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 7-3-2E - N/2 N/2 NE NW On St. Clair Lane off Bell Factory Road CONNALLY - In Memory of Virginia Ann Connally - Born June 22, 1825 - Died May 21, 1863 CONNALLY - In Memory of Alford S. Connally - Born May 21, 1848 - Died April 23, 1869 CONNALLY - Thomas M., son of N. D. & D. Connally - Born April .... 1865 - Died November 20, 1890. [Note this was the second wife of N. D. Connally, Virginia Ann, above, being the first wife.] Note: There were four graves marked with fieldstones. From various sources I have heard that John Connally is buried here and that he was a Rev. soldier. DERRICK-ACKLIN CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 13-3-1E - E/2 SW NW - Approx. 3/4 mile NW of Ryland, Ala. & west of Vess Road in pasture under clump of trees. DERRICK - In Memory of Martha Derrick - Born 11 December 1775 - Died 11 Septr 1840 Aged 65 Yrs. ACKLIN - In Memory of Edward Acklin, Born 17th May 1795, Died 13th Sept 1839 Aged 44 Yrs., 4 Mo.
