I was taken to this cemetery by Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bice. STOGSDALE - In Memory of James H. Stogsdale. Born Dec. 12, 1821 - Died Oct. 18, 1849. Note: This was the only stone left but family 1850 Census descendants tell me that James H. Stogsdale's Stogsdell, Eleanor 21 Va. wife and daughter are buried here also. That Rebecca 2 Ala. would be Eleanor ("Ellen") M. Yancy whom he Jas. 6/12 " married in Limestone County Sept. 8, 1847. Yancy, W. E. (fem.) 10 " Their daughter, Rebecca, who married William Edwards Dec. 8, 1869 is also buried here. The Mortality Schedule lists J. H. Stogsdell, age 28 years, died in October, born in Alabama, a Carpenter by trade, ill three months before death. Another early record of a Stogsdale in Madison County was Mary J. Stogsdale who married R. G. White Sept. 8, 1866 plus Ellen Stocksdale who married Seabourn Jones Feb. 16, 1851 (See Page 298.) 299 - (903)
