Dallas Mill After the Fire

Here are some photographs of Dallas Mill after the fire of 1991.

A charred tree in front of the mill (picture 0015) - this picture shows just how hot the fire was.

Structures to be demolished by dynamite rather than conventional means, i.e., bull dozer, track hoe, wrecking ball, etc., are shown in pictures 0002, 0003, 0004, 0005, 0006, 0007, 0008, 0009, and 0011. In the pictures of the water tank, it appears that the tank may be tilted - it is not - it's the result of the angle at which the photographer stood while making the pictures.

We learned that the bricks from the destruction were cleaned by people at the site for months. It is believed that the bricks sold for 2 - 3 cents each or around $60 a pallet. For those of us who have some bricks and consider them to be valuable, maybe not, but they are treasures to us.
