Harvie Jones was the primary Huntsville Architect who played a critical role in the preservation of historic homes and buildings in Huntsville. He served as the architect for the restoration of many historic buildings and was a key player in the creation of Constitution Village Park and the Twickenham Historic Preservation District. He was active in the Historic Huntsville Foundation and the Huntsville-Madison Historical Society, publishing several articles in the Historic Huntsville Quarterly and the Huntsville Historical Review. After Harvie died in 1998, two issues of the Historic Huntsville Quarterly were dedicated to articles by or about him: Spring/Summer 1999 - XXV:1&2 and Fall/Winter 1999 - XXV:3&4.
His papers are preserved in the Archives at the University of Alabama Huntsville's Salmon Library. The Huntsville History Collection highlights information from that collection, including photographs, architectural notes and historical maps.
Most of the articles and the associated pictures in the The Huntsville History Collection are from two volumes of materials he assembled in 1997 for the 25th anniversary of the Twickenham Historic Preservation District Association.
