•  Sometimes, it is tempting to create stories to explain events. Colonel George Anderson Gordon (b1830) had family and success in Savannah Georgia and yet he moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Ellen Beirne, his second wife, was from Huntsville and it is easy to assume that would be the reason for his move. Yet we never found how they met and what went into that decision.
