Clarence was son of James M. and Fannie (Sherrill) Burks of Normandy, Tennessee. Irene was daughter of George and Charlotte Elizabeth (Shumate) Throneberry. BURKS, FEB. 11, 1865 - SEPT. 4, 1921, (ROW 14) This is Fannie Rebecca Sherrill of Normandy, Bedford Co., Tennessee. Fannie and James Mitchell Burks married in the 1880s. They moved to Huntsville in 1908. Their children were Horace R., Lewis, Louis, Clarence M., Gilbert and Effie. Horace married Lucy J. Ward, Lewis Burks married Anner Baldwin Dec. 1, 1923. Louis married Sarah Katherine St. John, Sept. 23, 1916. They divorced in 1924. He married Opal Lemley Feb. 14, 1925. They divorced. He married Gracie Black Aug. 14, 1926. She died 1937. On Dec. 11, 1937, Louie married Thelma Splawn who died in 1942. Louie married Florence Naomi (Phillips) Watson, widow of Carlos Watson on Feb. 20, 1943. They divorced. Louie married Eunice Oldfield Gant who was widow of Ingle Gant and was widowed by Louie's death Mar. 10, 1970. He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. Clarence M. married Irene Throneberry Dec. 13, 1919. Clarence married Lois Blackburn on Oct. 13, 1934. Clarence married Dorothy Lucille Heddens on Oct. 3, 1943. (ROW 3) Thelma was a daughter of Richard Splawn who died of heart attack about 1912. Her mother was Florence (Flossie) Augusta Cross, who died in Columbia, Tennessee about 1942. The Splawns had three other children, Frank, Edith and Marie. Thelma was born Dec. 18, 1907, in Shelby Co. near Selma, Alabama. She worked in - (1328)
