Cantrell married Lucille Johnson Dec. 28, 1928, in Madison Co., Alabama. This eight month old baby was their first child. He died in the home on A Street of diphtheria. They had four other children: Norma, Viola, Robert and Solon Glenn. Solon Glenn was in the U. S. Navy and died in an automobile accident in California in 1965. Solon E. was son of Lem and Mary (Parsley) Cantrell. Lucille was a daughter of Ernest and Pearl (Johnson) Johnson. Pearl Johnson's parents were W. E. and Mattie Johnson of Marshall, Arkansas. CANTRELL, JAMES, FEB. 13, 1905 - MAR. 20, 1907. (ROW 14) George Vernon Cantrell and Bessie Margaret Hill were the parents of James. They married in Madison Co., Alabama, Dec. 21, 1904. Some of the other children of George and Bessie were Eula, Alvan, Essie May, and Lizzie Etta. George, born in Coffee Co., Tennessee, Aug. 24, 1883, was a son of Samuel Bethel Cantrell and Mary S. (O'Neil) Cantrell. Samuel was son of John Cantrell. Bessie Margaret Hill was born Apr. 11, 1884, and died Nov. 28, 1961. Her parents were Rev. James and Mary Hill of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Both Rev. and Mrs. Hill are buried in Merrimack Cemetery. George and Bessie moved away from Huntsville before George died in 1950. Sources: Cindy Cantrell Mears (Mrs. Leroy). He married Mary Parsley in Tennessee. They had four sons and five daughters. They were Solon E. Cantrell who died Sept. 22, 1972, (buried Maple Hill Cemetery), Jack, Obel, Alvin, Ollie, Dorothy, Eura Mary Jo, and Alta Cantrell. The family moved to Huntsville in 1927. Solon and his wife Lucile Johnson Cantrell were parents of Earnest Cantrell who died 1931, and is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Sources: Mrs. Solon Cantrell.
