brass plates, inscribed GAMBRELL may mark his grave. Source: Cora Sherine Cash. Marriage record (Dallas), Vol. 62, p. 215. Maple Hill Cemetery Office. Census, 1900, Dekalb Co., Tennessee, E.D. 48. Sh. 20, line 60. Obituary (H. H.) The Huntsville Times, Mar. 15, 1950, p.12. GAMBRELL, DORIS ELIZABETH, DIED DEC. 10, 1938, AGE 2 YEARS. ND STONE. Doris was a child of Dallas and Berta (Shannon) Gambrell. Berta was born about 1915, in Alabama. Their marriage was Dec. 22, 1934, in Madison Co., Alabama. Their other children were Donald, Barbara, Betty and Eugene. Source: Sherine Cash. Marriage record, Vol. 62, p. 215. Obituary, The Huntsville Times, June 12, 1938, p. 7. GAMBRELL, EVELYN, MAY 3, 1859 - DEC. 12, 1939 (ROW 21) GAMBRELL, BRASS PLATE, NAME ONLY CONCRETE BLOCK, BRASS PLATE MISSING, GAMBRELL, BRASS PLATE, NAME ONLY Evelyn and Andrew Gambrell were from Dekalb Co., Tennessee. Andrew was a buyer for Merrimack Mfg. Company. Compiler believes Andrew was a son of Abigail Gambrell, born about 1832. She was a widow in Smithville, Dekalb Co., Tennessee, by 1870. Perhaps Evelyn was a Cantrell before marriage. No proof. The children of Evelyn and Andrew were Pearl, b. Aug. 1882, James, born Dec. 1883, Jane, born Mar. 1886, Delia, born May 1888, Harrison, born Jan. 1890, Amanda, born Dec. 1891, and Eliza, born Apr. 1894. James died Mar. 11, 1920, in Madison Co. Alabama. Delia married Hawkins Medlin. Henry Harrison Gambrell died Mar. 15, 1950, is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Tombstone or funeral home marker (now missing) had name Gamble. Amanda Lee "Mandy" married Robert Jones. Eliza married a Mr. Smith before 1920, but later married James Jetton ( Mar. 1, 1887 - Mar. 22, 1930), buried in Merrimack Cemetery. At Evelyn's death she had one daughter who married Green Herrin and another married Monroe Vickers. Since the brass plates simply say "Gambrell" we do not know who is buried in those graves. One could be James. One could be Doris Elizabeth. One could be Andrew. This is supposition. Compiler has no proof. Source: Sharline Gambrell Cash. Pauline Anderson.
