GOLDEN, JAMES, BORN 1880, DIED MAR. 1954. NO STONE Jim Golden died of a stroke. He was a son of Sarah (Brewster) and Joseph Golden of Asheville, St. Clair Co., Alabama. He was brother of John, Walter, Charles and Mattie Golden. Please see following item about Sarah J. Golden. Source: Odis Golden. GOLDEN, SARAH J. NOV. 11, 1855 - JAN. 16, 1931. (ROW 17) Sarah Brewster was the daughter of Vincent and Margaret Brewster, of Beaver Valley, St. Clair Co., Alabama. Vincent was born in Georgia. Margaret was born in Alabama. Sarah married Joseph Golden, probably in St. Clair Co. Joseph was a son of Richard and Elona Golden, of Beaver Valley, St. Clair Co. Richard was born in South Carolina, Elona was born in Alabama. Joseph and Sarah lived in Asheville, St. Clair Co., Alabama in 1880. According to the 1880 Census record, their children then were John H., age one year and James R., age three months. By October of 1908, Sarah and some of her children were in Madison Co., where the children were employed in the textile mills. Children of Sarah and Joseph were John H., James R., Walter, Mollie (married a Stamey), Clara M., and Charles. Sarah was ill for a number of years before her death. GOLDEN, WALTER, ALA., PVT. 101 INF. 26 DIV. FEB. 10, 1932. (ROW 17) Remains moved to Memory Gardens in 1974 when wife, Nelia died. Walter was a son of Sarah J. Brewster and Joseph Golden. Walter Golden married Nelia Guyer on June 29, 1912, in Madison Co., Alabama. He was born in Asheville, St. Clair Co., Alabama, about 1895. On Sept. 20, 1917, he enlisted in the U. S. Army in Huntsville, Alabama. At that time he was 22 years of age, and a textile worker. He had blue eyes, black hair and stood 5 feet, 9 inches tall. On May 18, 1918, he left the United States for France, and returned April 5, 1919. He was discharged from the Army Dec. 3, 1918. Nelia was Cornelia Guyer, youngest daughter of Simon L. and Millie (Russell) Guyer of Valhermosa Springs, Morgan Co., Alabama. Nelia's sisters were Nettie, Maud and Pearl. She had a brother, John. The children of Walter and Nelia were Ruby, born about 1914, Clarence, Odis, born 1923, Freddie and Dorothy. When Neila died in July of 1974, she was buried in Memory Gardens and Walter's remains were moved to Memory Gardens. His tombstone remains in Merrimack Cemetery.
