Hurricane Precinct, Madison Co., Alabama in June, 1900. Dorcus was born April 1822, in Tennessee. John was born April 1826, in Virginia. They married about 1847. In 1870, the family was listed in Brownsboro, Madison Co., Alabama. Eight children were in the home: Sarah, Hannah, Martha, Joseph, John, Perry, William and George. Nannie Reed was the wife of George Harris. In 1920, George and his wife Nannie (Reed) Harris, born about 1869, in Alabama, had three sons in the home: Claude, born about 1901, Wade, born about 1905, and Perry, born about 1907. Their daughter Willie May, born 1894, had married Mr. Singleton before that time. They lived on B. St. in Merrimack and all but Perry worked in Merrimack Mfg. Co. Wade married Aileen Maxwell on Dec. 24, 1924, in Madison Co. Alabama. He died late Dec. 1990, in Taft, Tennessee and is buried in Blanche Cemetery. James Perry, the youngest son of George and Nannie died in Oct. 1930, at the age of 23. He was a single man and lived in the home of his brother Wade at the time of his death. Their daughter Willie Mae Harris Singleton married James Frank Singleton and died Dec. 21, 1925. She is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Sources: Carolyn Lester. (ROW 20) HAYS, JOSIE E., 1893 - 1940. (ROW 21) HAYS, LULA MARIE, 1913 - 1929. (ROW 21) Felix Henry Hays was born in Darden, Henderson Co., Tennessee in 1890. He was the son of Harriette Bledsaw and Dr. Henry Hays. He died August 26, 1943. Felix and Josie Eveline Oquin married about 1907. A daughter of Cople and Wylie Oquin, she was born in 1893, and died Mar. 6, 1940. The family moved to Huntsville in 1929. Felix and Josie were parents of eleven children: Lena, Ruby, Lula, Cletus, Denzel, Hazel, Clevie, Golden, Edith, James, and Peggy. All but James and Peggy were born in Tennessee. These two were born in Huntsville. Lula Marie Hays died in Nov., 1929. Lena married Arthur Parker and is mother of Virginia Parker who is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Ruby married Fred Adkins and is mother of Robert Lee Adkins, buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Hazel married Brooks Cowley, Peggy married a Coffee, Goldie married Ed IngweiIler. After Josie's death, on May 23, 1941, Felix married Bertha Hall, daughter of Sal and Mattie (Thompson) Hall. She was born June 1, 1920, in Jackson Co., Alabama. This was second marriage for both. She had divorced her first husband in 1939. Felix and Bertha had two children, Felix and Jessica who married a Gibson. After the death of Felix, Bertha married John Wiley Flippo.
