LEWTER, ARTHUR C., JR., DEC. 31, 1927 - APR. 10, 1954. (ROW 42) Arthur Calvin Lewter, Jr. was the first child of Arthur Calvin Lewter and Ethel Mccorkle who married Sept. 18, 1926, in Madison Co., Alabama. Arthur, Jr. died in the Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 26. He was a second class petty officer in the U. S. Navy. Arthur, Sr. was son of Andrew and Annie (Poole) Lewter of Cashpoint, Biles Co., Tennessee. Arthur, Sr. and Ethel Lewter had six other children: Ronald, Dorothy, Faye, Ann, Ritha, and Betty. LINDSEY, JAMES S., 1878 - 1934 (ROW 11) James Simian "Sim" Lindsey died Apr. 18, 1934, at the age of fifty-six. He was a son of James Whitfield Lindsey and his wife Laura. In 1878, he was born in Coosa Co., Alabama. He and his first wife were the parents of two children, Paul and Winnie. Their mother died in 1905/06. On Oct. 6, 1907, James married Frances Elizabeth "Lizzie" Howse in Cullman Co., Alabama. Lizzie was a daughter of Thomas Abner Howse and Josephine Ophelia (Vaughn) Howse. She was born October 4, 1882, and died of congestive heart failure May 24, 1971, in Huntsville, Alabama. She is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. She was a widow of Elijah Greenbury Cooke whom she married Jan. 2, 1902. She had two children, Mozell and Effie, before Elijah died in May 1906, in Cullman. James and Lizzie had eight children: Jessie, James Abner Cecil, Sara Edna Erie, Quinell, Ramon and Damon (twins), Marjorie Lora, and Helen Louise. Jessie died 1922, and is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Source: Cornelia Langston Libisch. LINDSEY, JESSIE V., 1908 - 1922. (ROW 27) Jessie, born July 13, 1908, was the first child of James Simian Lindsay and Frances Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Howse) Lindsey. Both were from Cullman Co., Alabama, where they married Oct. 6, 1907. James was a son of James Whitfield Lindsey and his wife Laura. Lizzie was a daughter of Thomas Abner Howse and Josephine Ophelia (Vaughn) Howse of Cullman Co.
