The parents married Mar. 30, 1S9S, in Madison Co., Alabama. Their other children were Minnie, Shelley, Louis and Elizabeth. Margaret died before November of 1915. Please see entry for John E. Massey. (ROW 24) Mary Ellen, born in Sept., 1873, was a daughter of James Madison and Katherine (Shankles) Skelton of Jackson Co., Alabama. Katherine was a daughter of John and Clarissa (Proctor) Shankles. She died and was buried in Manchester, Georgia, when she was staying with her son John Thomas Skelton. Other children of James and Katherine Skelton were Sarah Margaret born Feb. 1, 1878, who married John William Phillips, John Thomas born 2 Feb. 2, 1880, (married, died and is buried in Manchester), Georgia, Ailsey, born July 1882, (married Ernest Jones of Paw Creek, North Carolina), Rebecca, born Nov. 1881, (married Oscar Pennington). The parents of James Madison Skelton were John Odis and Elizabeth (Berry) Skelton of Jackson Co. John Odis was born in South Carolina. Elizabeth Berry was born in Alabama. James Madison Skelton worked at building Mill # 1, of Merrimack in 1900, for 35 cents a day. He died in Paw Creek, North Carolina, and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama. Katherine (Shankles) Skelton died and is buried in Manchester, Georgia. Mary Ellen married Henry Justice about 1890, probably in Jackson Co., Alabama. Her two children were Cynthia, born Feb. 1891, and James Henry Justice, born Nov. 1892. In 1899, Mary Ellen married William Mathewson in Jackson Co., Alabama. She and William Mathewson (misspelled as Matthews) and the two Justice children were living in Larkinsville, Jackson Co. in 1900. By 1910, she was living in Merrimack. The census listed her as Mary E. Justice, a widow with Cynthia and Henry Justice. Cynthia married married James McCarver Feb. 5, 1912. She died Apr. 14, 1954, and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. James Leonard McCarver had died Apr. 23, 1937, and was buried in Merrimack Cemetery but when Cynthia died there was no room for her near her husband so his body was removed and buried beside Cynthia in Maple Hill Cemetery. Cynthia and James Leonard McCarver were parents of James L., M. Lloyd, George H., Luther C., Gary and Flora Mae who married a Suttles. Henry married Emma Patton who had a child, Florence L.
