Census, 1900, Davidson Co., Nashville, Tennessee, E.D. 87, Sh. 1, line 25. NELSON, JACK, DIED ABOUT. 1922. NO STONE NELSON, JULIUS, DIED 1923 OR 1925, AGE 15 MONTHS. NO STONE Jackson Nelson married Josie Kennemer, daughter of David Kennemer and Nancy Jane Tackett, on Feb. 27 1909, in Madison Co., Alabama. Jack was son of Jasper Nelson and Patty (Briscoe) Nelson of Jackson Co., Alabama. Jack and Josie farmed in the Capshaw area until they moved to Merrimack and worked in the Merrimack Mfg. Co. They were parents of Florence, Earl, Roy, Jesse, Eva, Ruby and Julius. Julius was born six months after the death of Jack but lived only 15 months. Jack's lung had a bit of lint caught on it and that caused his death. He was about 38 at that time. After the birth and death of Julius, the baby, Josie moved back to Capshaw and farmed on the property of Gordon Balch. Florence married at the age of 14 and Earl became old enough to work in the textile mills so the family moved to Dallas Mill village where Josie and Earl worked. Josie and Lonnie Allen, also of Dallas Mill married May 21, 1931. Josie was born about 1888, or 1890, in Alabama. Lonnie Allen was born about 1889, in Tennessee. He had been married to Martha Mears and had two children, Lena and Tommy Allen. The graves of Jack and Julius Nelson are located near the west end of the cemetery. It is believed that the road that goes through the cemetery is over the graves. Josie could not afford tombstones for her husband or baby. Lonnie died about 1960. Josie died 1984, age 96. She is buried in Cameron Cemetery in the Hurricane community, Madison Co., Alabama. Sources: Ruby Crabbe. Marriage record, Vol. 34, p. 271. NEWBY, CARLOS WAYNE, BORN AND DIED 1935/1936. ND STONE Carlos was the baby of James Herbert and Florence (Barton) Newby. Florence was daughter of Thomas Wil bourn Barton. Mr. Barton was born about 1858, in Tennessee and died Nov. 28, 1938, in Madison Co., Alabama. James Herbert was son of Fannie (Dosier) and Thomas Alfred Newby of Madison Cross Roads. He was born May 16, 1897. Florence and James Herbert had two other sons, James Herbert, Jr. and Thomas Wilbourn Newby, and three daughters. Herbert and Florence married Feb., 2, 1918, in Madison Co., Alabama. Herbert died in July of 1976. Florence died November 22, 1979. Sources: Thomas W. Newby. Mamie Newby Cruse (Mrs. Brooks). His mother was daughter of Walt Sanders. The Newbys were from McMinnville, Warren Co. Tennessee. 74 - (1380)
