Madison Co., Alabama. Mr. Perley was Chief Engineer of Merrimack Mfg. Co. He was born in Chatham, New Brunswick about 1880. His father was born in Canada and his mother was born in Scotland. Annie was born in Massachusetts, as were both parents. On Feb. 27, Mrs. Perley was riding on an electric car when she fainted. (ROW 6) Ruby Lee, born in Owens Cross Roads, Madison Co., Alabama, was a daughter of Robert Lee and Mary Mavoleen (Hyman) Anderson. Ruby Lee married Breen Phillips Jan. 21, 1922, in Madison Co., Alabama. Ruby and Breen had four sons: Lester, J. E. , Billy and Carl . John Breen Phillips, of Jackson Co., Alabama, was born July 3, 1898, and died Jan. 14, 1957. After Ruby Lee's death Breen married Edna Braham. He was a son of Sarah Margaret "Sallie" (Skelton) Phillips and John William Phillips of Jackson Co., Alabama. Sallie was daughter of James Madison and and Katherine (Shankles) Skelton. John William Phillips died Jan. 21, 1910, in Jackson Co., Alabama, near Boose Pond and Scottsboro, Alabama. Breen applied for a job with Merrimack Mfg. Co. on Feb. 14, 1910. The rest of the family moved to Huntsville about a year later. Other children of Sallie and John William Phillips were Alfred, Irvin, Bertie and Irene Phillips. Alfred married Clare Estelle Patterson, Bertie married Andy Manning and Irene married Bernie Rooker. Sources: Delores Phillips Sisco. Marriage record, Vol. 47, p. 504. PORTER, JAMES E., JUNE 4, 1921, ALA. PVT. INF. 42 DIV. (ROW 1) James enlisted in the U. S. Army in Montgomery, Alabama on July 10, 1917. On Nov. 6, 1917, he left U. S. for France where he served and received shrapnel in his knee. He returned to U. S. Jan. 19, 1919. He was discharged from Camp McClellen, Alabama, Feb. 13, 1919. James was born around 1886. He was a son of Frances (Fannie) Porter Jones who was born about 1868, in Arkansas. Willie L. Jones was his younger brother who died in 1925, and is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. Sources: Ann G. (ROW 12) POTTER, JOHN R., AUG. 26, 1873 - MAY 8, 1925. (ROW 10) Beulah was second wife of John R. Potter. They married April 18, 1910. Before this marriage John and three sons, Robert, James, and Cecil, were boarding with a Lambert family in Merrimack Village. John married his first wife, Mary, about 1890, probably in 78 - (1384)
