SPURLOCK, JAMES HADEN, 1907 - 1949. (ROW 7) SPURLOCK, LECIL, JAN. 21, 1885 - APR. 24, 1935. (ROW 7) James Haden Spurlock, an unmarried man, was a son of Lecil and Lillie (Lemley) Spurlock. Lillie was a daughter of Grayson and Ora (Lemley) Spurlock, of Cloud's Cove, Madison Co., Alabama. William Lecil married Lillie in Mar. 1906. They had two children, James H. and Viola. By 1920 the couple had divorced. Lecil married Martha Whitehead in Dec. 1922. Martha was a daughter of Sallie and Joe Whitehead (both buried in Merrimack Cemetery). Martha Whitehead Spurlock is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. When Lecil died, he was survived by the following children: William, Dillard, Lawrence, Louis, Haden, Annie and Viola. Annie married Lewis Berryhill in Feb. 1933, Viola married Lonnie Lemley in Nov. 1929. Lecil was a son of James B. and Alice Elizabeth (Vinson) Spurlock of McMinnville, Warren Co., Tennessee. James and Alice married Apr. 4, 1883, in Warren Co. They were the parents of Lavada, William Lecil, Charles, Drew, Edd, Emma, Nettie, and Callie. Callie Spurlock married Joe Day and is buried in Merrimack Cemetery. James B. Spurlock, born 1860, died Oct. 1931, Ed, born Oct. 24, 1890, died Nov. 21, 1915, and Alice E., born 1863, died 1940, are all buried in Blue Hill Cemetery, McMinnville, Warren Co., Tennessee. (Row 7) Louis was riding his bicycle in front of the Merrimack Manufacturing Company when he was struck by a car. He died in his home. His parents were Lecil and Martha (Whitehead) Spurlock, who married in Madison Co, 26 Dec. 1922. Lecil was son of James B. and Alice E. Vinson Spurlock. Martha was daughter of Sallie and Joe Whitehead. Louis had three sisters and three brothers: Eudora, Mary Elizabeth and Alice, Lawrence, Will and Dillard.
