home of Elzin Bledsoe, also born in Georgia. In 1920, she sewed for the public. At her death she was boarding in the home of Jessie and O. H. Giles. In 1916, she is listed as the widow of Walter Wheeler. She had no children and her husband was killed during the Civil War. She died April 4, 1934. Before her death she had requested that her coffin be made by Mr. Osceola Cloud, a mechanic for Merrimack Mfg. Co. The casket was made of white poplar. She had wanted the casket carried in a wagon but the man she asked to drive the wagon died before she did, so she was carried in a motor driven hearse. Sources: Census, 1910, Madison Co., Alabama. It is thought they died before they were three years old. Laforia Elizabeth Wheeler died Jan. 7, 1929, at the age of three years. Many were ill with flu at that time. These three little girls were children of William Cliff and Katie (Singleton) Wheeler. Katie was daughter of James and Elizabeth (Brown) Singleton who married Feb. 6, 1882, of McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee. Elizabeth (Brown) Singleton died about 1905, in Warren Co., Tennessee. Katie was born Nov. 20, 1902, in Warren Co., Tennessee. The family moved to Huntsville in 1915. Katie Singleton and William Cliff Wheeler married Feb. 22, 1919, in Madison Co. Katie died July 18, 1996. She is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. Though the Wheeler family was in Blount Co. in 1900, William Cliff Wheeler was born Nov. 13, 1901, in Marshall Co., Alabama. His parents were William T. and Annie Wheeler. They were in Huntsville by Dec. 1914. He died in Sept. 1949, in Huntsville and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery. Katie and Cliff had two other children: Clarice, born 1926, and J. C., born 1925. At Katie's death she was survived by Lillian Kane and Barbara Boyd. Sources: Carolyn Lester. He married Callie Elmore and they had nine children: Kenneth, Helen, Ruby, Cloie, (married a Dill), Elsie, Ruth, Dorothy, Nina and Ernest. Charles had been employed in the Huntsville Arsenal. Joe Whitehead was a son of George and Amanda C. Whitehead of Putnam Co., Tennessee. In 1880, seven children lived in their home. They were Frances T., James M., Celia M., Lucy J., Joseph 102 - (1408)
