The above land records show that the first owner of the Southeast Quarter of S22-T4-R1W was John Couch, who acquired the land from the government in August of 1809. In 1815 John Couch sold the land to Isaac Jackson. Albert H. and Dallas J. Jones acquired the land from Isaac Jackson in 1826. In 1867 Albert H. Jones sold his share of the land to Dallas J. Jones. Maria A. Hawkins also sold land to Dallas J. Jones in 1867. The Madison County marriage record index below shows the transition of Maria A. Jones to Maria A. (Ward) Hawkins: 6 - (1862)
