Louisa's daughter Mary Shelby McCrabb Lanier took charge after her husband Burwell C.'s death in 1820 and saw that the land was cleared to establish the plantation. She continued to acquire additional land in her own name, as did the three sons (Isaac Alexander [“Alexander”], William Henry, and Burwell Clinton Lanier), sometimes jointly and with their mother Mary [“Polly”]. 13 - (2003)
