In the above 1880 listing, it was noted that Anthony Lipscomb had been born in Virginia. Since he was 60 years old in 1880, he would have been born in 1820, when the Lipscomb family still lived in that state. According to the ages and birthplaces recorded in 1850 for the white Lipscomb children, the family moved here around the 1830s. Land records show that Richard got land in 1833 (Limestone Co., AL) and 1835 (Madison Co., AL):
