THE DESCENDANTS OF DOCTOR WILLIAM SIMPSON, compiled by Dennis William Simpson. 1993 ALBERT PROCTOR AND ZUMA SIMPSON Zuma Simpson was only 15 years old when her mother passed away and 17 when her father died. She was first raised by her twenty year old brother. Arthur Marcus Simpson, at the family homestead until February 21. 1878. On that date the Probate Court of Madison County. Alabama appointed guardianship to her brother-in-law. John Alexander Steger. Madison County. Alabama Probate Court Case Number 3485: The State of Alabama, Madison County. Know all Men by these Presents. That we. Alex Steger, W.F. Jordan & K.H. Steger, are held and firmly bound unto WILLIAM RICHARDSON, Judge of the Court of Probate of Madison County, in the State of Alabama, and his successors in office, in the penal sum of Two Hundred & Fifty (250.00) Dollars, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we and each of us do bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated the 21st day of February Eighteen Hundred and seventy-eight. Now, the condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas, the above bound Alex Steger has this day been duly appointed Guardian of the person and estate of Zuma Simpson an infant. Now. then, if said Alex Steger shall well and truly perform all the duties which are or may be by law required of him as such Guardian, then (he above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.
