The deed below shows land sold to Powhaton & Mary Toney plus Pitts Griffin for the use of the “Brothers and Sisters of Honor”, as mentioned in the deed above, which was for the Spring Hill M. E. Church. This deed also mentions several roads in the area. The Huntsville and Triana Road (also called a “Pike” in other instances) was what is now called Anderson Road. The deed below shows the purchase of the East Half of the Northeast Quarter of Section 11, Township 5 South, Range 2 West, by Powhaton Toney in December of 1904 from the American Freeholder Land & Mortgage Company of London, Limited. The transaction was executed by an agent in New York. This purchase was for the land where the Powhaton Toney Cemetery is located now. 18 - (2494)
