Nov. 1, 1855 - D. Dec. 20, 1893. In Vol II, of Joel C. Dubose, "NOTABLE^ MEN_ OF~ ALABAMA," he writes of Alexander Alfred Wall. "He was one of Tuscumbia's oldest and most universally respected physicians, was born in Madison county, Ala., April 9, 1826. His parents, Alexander Gray and Mary (Cooper) Wall, were both natives of Virginia, the former of Southampton and the latter of Albemarle county. The father served in the War of 1812.. ... Of the six children, three sons and three daughters, born to this couple, Dr. A.A. Wall is the"only survivor . . .. He has been twice married. His first wife, to whom he was married on Nov. 12, 1850, was Amanda Ross, a native of Huntsville and a daughter of Fred A. and Elizabeth (Cooper) Ross,43 both natives of Virginia. To this marriage were born six children: Kate died al the age of sixteen months; Conrad died in February 1903, in his fortieth year, having married Laura Challen, and left one son: Helen died in July 1897; William Richard lives in Huntsville; James S. died at the age of thirteen years; Elizabeth died in infancy. Mrs. Amanda (Ross) Wall died in I860. During her life she was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. On October 23, 1862, Dr. Wall was united in marriage to Mary McLeod . . .." q.v. Mr. Dubose also wrote a brief biography of William Augustus Wall stating. He was born in Madison county, Nov. 2, 1855. Here he received his primary schooling, subsequently attending one year at Southern Baptist institute at Murfreesboro, Tenn. Returning home al lhe end of the Year, he remained until 1887. For (wo years after he was engaged in railroad construction: he was (hen made .superintendent of lhe Bownell iron mines, in which he was engaged for five years.
