Lacy Cemetery, 75-1 Summary Report, page 66

No reasonable explanations or supportable theories have yet been postulated about this grave arrangement, unless Jane is buried to the east of her headstone, which may be the case. However, that still leaves the question of why the stone itself is buried. The question of the identity and relationships of Jane Davies presents another mystery that has not yet been solved. There were no records found to fit a Jane S. Davies or Davis or Daveys in Madison County of that time. This is true for Davies being either a maiden or a married surname. The closest “near match” encountered was in the land records for Samuel and Jane Davis, as shown in the land transaction index below: MAKER TO WHOM MADE Andrei Patsy to Moore Deed Jans Samuel Ibeophelous Pemington Deed Jane Sacusl John Davis El na th an al Rebecca Andrei Siveley Deed Joanna John Ford Samuel Holloway Deed Andree K Murtha Deed Richard I Jones 29 1 392 1831 Ii Deed James K Davis Sahl 2-E 0 378 1833 2 1 Deed Root to Davis 313 1835 P Deed lilliaa Patton tolly Tinsley 2-E 1 21 604 1836 P Deed Lewis Meals Anna Eilnaa 1-1 3 21 R 1-E 3 M Wharton Dabney 3 1-E 10 1838 50 to H 1-E 3 50 1838 Deed Mary A 1839 R 220 Deed (has H Patton George Margaret 2-1 2 1838 R 3C8 Deed Nancy Lane Sarah fetthew 2-1 2 3 1839 R 226 Deed Root Bios L Robert PJchar 1 Polly 72 1838 Geo Andrew F El izabeth 50 1836; 10 Martha Gdn M by Gdn Louisa A Martha General Index to Real Property??"us rem"?*ano N , niDcrT 10,n l010 F V OTHER INSTRUMENTS AFFECTING REAL ESTATE No. 1 ??"
