Woodward Cemetery, 88-2 Summary Report, page 32

There are no inscribed tombstones in the Woodward Cemetery with a date more recent than that for John W. Woodward. Apparently, his was the last burial in the little family cemetery, so his children must have all survived from 1913 until the government took the land to create the arsenal in the 1940s. Today the cemetery is kept mowed and fenced and in general good shape by the Army's groundskeeping contractor. It stands as a peaceful, if silent, witness to the impact that a determined family of Woodwards had in keeping the land productive and raising their children in a safe environment. Some of their descendants remain in the Huntsville area and may on occasion visit the cemetery of their ancestors. Prepared by John P. Rankin, January 21, 2005; revised August 16, 2005 32 - (2948)
