J.H. (John) Timmons (1868 - 1899) was not the patriarch of the clan in Madison County. He was a son of William H. Timmons (1839 - 1906), who in turn was a son of John Timmons (1790 - 1845). It was this early John Timmons who first came to Madison County and purchased the family lands that eventually became part of Redstone Arsenal. The senior John Timmons' grave is in the southwest corner of the walled cemetery area.
