John Timmons also patented 1.52 acres, the entire fractional portion north of the Tennessee River, of Section 34, T5-R1W, on February 2, 1818. The details of the 1829 purchase of 80 acres of land in the East/2 of the Northeast/4 of Section 21 of Township 5, Range 1W by John Timmons are shown below. This parcel of land was initially purchased in 1818 from the U. S. Government by Edmund Rives under Certificate or Warrant 863. Madison County Deed Book Q, page 530, as shown below provides the details of John Timmons' 1838 purchase of 5 parcels of land, all in Township 5, Range 1W. These 5 parcels were 160 acres of the SW/4 of S21, 160 acres of the NW/4 of S28, 160 acres of the SE/4 of S20, 39 acres of the SW/4 of the NE/4 of S20, and 80 acres of the W/2 of the NE/4 of S29. The first 3 of the listed parcels were initially owned by Lemuel Mead, who purchased (“patented”) the land from the U. S. Government in 1824. 53 - (3002)
