Timmons Cemetery, 89-1 Summary Report, page 55

Conversely, the 1834 sale of land by John Timmons and his wife Catharine Quay (Finch) Timmons to John Burdine (son of Richard Burdine, deceased, who was an original owner of government land in the southeastern portion of today's arsenal) is recorded in Deed Book O on pages 703 and 704. This land was bounded in part by the Tennessee River, being a fractional portion of Section 23 in Township 5, Range 1W. The nearby U.S. Highway 231 bridge is built over the Tennessee River at a place known in the 1800s as “Burdine Shoals, which was just upstream from Leeman's Ferry. Leeman's Ferry was located in fractional Section 27, near the location of “Leeman's Bluff. 'fAFKp, Co. Rl_ ‘D'fctA O ^e-s 703-^ ??"ub --------- -??" .,.
