William was born August 22, 1839, whereas his father John Timmons died on November 1, 1845, when William was only age 6. The document below shows that Dr. John Hardie was guardian of William H. Timmons (the “H” is for “Hardie”) in 1847, but the following document shows that guardianship transitioned in 1848 to John Simpson. Oddly enough, that document also shows that John Hardie had been executor of the will of John Timmons, whereas the document immediately below shows that H. H. Lee (Lea) was executor of the will in 1847, as it accounts to H. H. Lee for the expenditures of the estate on William H. Timmon's behalf by Dr. John Hardie. Note that some of the funds were paid to Margaret Finch, who lived with William (she was his maternal aunt) and managed his household. 75 - (3024)
