Timmons Cemetery, 89-1 Summary Report, page 78

The estate of John Timmons, father of William Hardie Timmons, was owed debts from many of the prominent citizens of the area, as well as by others who were not so well known. The outstanding debts are shown in the pages which follow. Note that both John Hardie and John Simpson were among those who owed debts to John Timmons. His neighbors James Dickson, Hughy Smith, and Pleasant S. Austin (a son-in-law of Hughy Smith) also owed debts to the Timmons estate, as did John's in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Finch. Samuel C. Grubb was a debtor to the estate, but later records will show that John Timmons likewise owed an outstanding debt to Samuel C. Grubb. It was also noted that James Cartwright owed a debt to the estate, and this man was another pioneer of the pre-arsenal lands, according to early land records.
