He was listed in the “Green Grove Post Office” area with his wife “Anne” and son John, who was given as age 2. Their household was surrounded by those of former slaves who had taken the surnames of Timmons, Lynch, and Joiner. Note that Margaret L. Finch is not included in the household in 1870. However, she is listed in William's household in 1880, and she died in 1899, before the 1900 census was taken. It is not known where Margaret was living during the time of the 1870 census, but she may well have been visiting with her siblings who lived in Tennessee or Kentucky at that time. 97 - (3046)
