T. ' awler , Judge, f probate. The deed above records the disposition of the old Timmons Place to H. Holmes Crebbs, passing the lands out of the Timmons family forever. Samuel A. Latham was acting as the Commissioner of the Probate Court for the transaction. At the time of the sale in 1913, the property consisted of 1165.53 acres, excluding the family cemetery and a reserved right of way for access to the cemetery. The Crebbs family mortgaged the property to the W. R. Rison Banking Company in 1916, but the mortgage was fully paid in 1918 by H. Holmes Crebb. One can only speculate about the recurrence of the names Rison (banking company and Eugene Rison Timmons) and Latham (Probate Court Commissioner and Lizzie's maiden name). One thing is certain, however. The family retained the rights to the family cemetery -- and at least Sophie Timmons Jordan continued to visit the old cemetery regularly for many years. 120 - (3069)
