The INDEX TO LANDS confirms the idea that John Timmons was the purchaser of the land of the cemetery in 1834, rather than John Simmons, in that the heir of John Timmons was William H. Timmons. Similarly, the heir of Hughy Smith was Stanhope Smith, and both William Timmons and Stanhope Smith are shown as the first to privately transfer ownership of the land in the NE Quarter of Section 22. In fact, the first transfer by William Timmons was to put it in trust for his wife Annie (their family is shown in the 1880 census records further below). In 1869, Annie and William transferred ownership of the NW/4 of Section 22 to Elisha and William Joiner, et al, per the deed below: 8 - (3123)
