2. DETAILS OF PLACES OF INTEREST Acklin Christian Methodist Episcopal Church This church is in the community of Berkley in eastern Madison County. The church is present on the 1936 USGS topographic map. During this time period, most of the land surrounding the church was owned by African American farmers. The church property was once owned by Reuben W. Brazelton from 1922-1949 and then by Joseph W. Brazelton (presumably his son) until at least 1986. It is possible that the Brazeltons donated the land for the church.
