The G.W. Jones index of Madison County land transactions for Section 20 inserted below shows the subsequent transfer of the same parcel in the Southwest quarter from Hughy Smith to John M. Lynch in 1847. Until that sale was made, apparently the Finch and Smith parties had seen no need to register the 1835 deed.
